WINDSTREAM IS GIVING AWAY $70,000 FOR EDUCATION IN IOWA.
We at Windstream would like to thank everyone who nominated an educational program that could benefit from technology.Below, you'll find our 8 finalists. It's up to you to read about and vote for the most deserving program. The top four programs, based on total votes, will receive the money. The winner gets $25,000. The next three get $15,000 apiece. Now is your chance to make difference in Iowa. See who is winning. Programs are ranked by total votes.

Nodaway Valley School
Nodaway Valley School preps ages 10-13 for successful lives beyond school. Their 5th-6th graders currently use computers that are older than they are. Nodaway needs 25 new laptops to support all 5th-6th grade curricula. Laptops will allow teachers and students to access the latest educational sites, helping students learn by bringing information to life.

St. Francis Xavier
St. Francis Xavier teaches kids ages 3-12 and is dedicated to providing a challenging curriculum for every student. To improve classroom communication and collaboration, they aim to provide 10 LCD projectors and interactive whiteboards, for projecting virtual learning programs. Additionally, the school needs 10 laptops for a mobile lab that will provide online access for its math and science classrooms.

West Delaware CSD
West Delaware CSD teaches elementary through high school students. To facilitate 21st century skill building, the district has begun a new effort to improve technology in its schools, some of which are on Schools in Need of Assistance watch. With this donation each school building will get a mobile netbook lab for problem solving, analyzing data and more.

Charter Oak-Ute Elementary serves ages 4-12. It wants to give 21st century learners access to 21st century technology. Over half of the rural school's population is on free or reduced lunch. Funding is tight. Their computer lab, shown above, is no longer functioning. They need a new lab to give their students a 21st century learning environment.

Schleswig Community
Schleswig Community School serves students ages 3-15. To help students reach their full potential, the school wants to increase technology literacy for students and their families. To get students engaged and teach families cyber-safety the school will use this donation for teacher training and to create a mobile lab of laptops, iPod Touches and e-Readers for web learning and reading.

Progress Industries
Progress Industries serves ages 8-87 and changes lives for people with disabilities by teaching skills needed to fulfill needs and pursue dreams. The Day Habilitation program's numerous learning activities currently share two obsolete computers. They need new computers with speak software and touch screen monitors, to aid in technology and communication skill building.

Friends of Fayette Community Library
Fayette Community Library helps ages 3-100 pursue knowledge and learning. The library provides after-school tutoring to youth and educational programs for adults. It serves a county hit hard by plant layoffs. The library hopes to expand the number of laptops in order to expand tutoring and launch a new program for displaced workers to learn essential computer skills.

Children & Families of Iowa
Children & Families of Iowa, a residential recovery program for youth, aims to restore hope, build futures and change lives. CFI youth currently access a rented computer lab that is not open during after-school hours. Completing school work needed to graduate is tough with such limited access. CFI needs its own computer lab, so students can work toward success outside of school hours.
